What is an agriturismo?

An agriturismo is a renovated farm that lets apartments or rooms. It may also be a restored villa or luxurious country house. Most of the agriturismos in Italy produce wine or olive oil. An agriturismo has everything you want for a lovely holiday. Most of the properties have a pool, sometimes with a children’s pool. Some of the agriturismos have their own restaurant. Here you can enjoy regional dishes, prepared with homegrown ingredients. You are staying in a natural and pastoral environment, with beautiful views of vineyards, olive groves, hills or mountains. A fantastic place for a horse-riding holiday in Italy.

An exciting riding holiday in Italy

An agriturismo is the perfect base for a riding holiday! Some agriturismos have their own horses, and there are even a few with their own riding school, where you can usually take riding lessons. The little ones can ride ponies in the arena or in the farm yard, or help brush the horses. Some of the agriturismos listed here do not keep horses, but cooperate with a nearby riding school. The owner of the agriturismo will gladly help you to book. You can drive up there yourself. More experienced riders can book a trail ride. How lovely to discover the ravishing countryside on horseback: up and down the rolling hills, through quiet woodland, beside fields of sunflowers, olive groves and vineyards. A guide will accompany you. A riding holiday is a unique and adventurous way to discover Italy.
