Charming agriturismo with restaurant and views of Lake Como

I was living in Milan when I first discovered this inn on Lake Como. You can eat very well here, and it’s popular with the locals, too. George Clooney, who has a villa near here, comes here to dine from time to time. Alberto,the friendly, rather shy owner gives you a warm welcome and serves you in the inviting restaurant or outside on the verandah, At breakfast you’re likely to see his sister or his nephew: the whole family is involved in the business

Officially not an agriturismo, but a country inn, Alberto’s agriturismo is about two kilometres from the town of Argegno. From the garden you have a beautiful view of Lake Como and the mountains of the Val d'Intelvi. In fine weather, breakfast is served in the garden. A footpath leads from the property down to Argegno and the lake. Menaggio is just 20 minutes away and you can take a boat from Argegno to the famous town of Bellagio. And for those seeking the bright lights, it is a 30 minute drive to Como and just an hour to Milan.This is the ideal place for those who love nature and mountain tranquillity, but also like to stay close to charming villages.

Rooms

There are eight double rooms and a suite with beautiful views of Lake Como. Two rooms have an interconnecting door, creating a large family room.

Alberto has taken great care in the design of the rooms, which are all different. The rooms do not have numbers but the names of flowers that grow in the Val d'Intelvi. All rooms have TV and private bathroom with shower and toilet.

The restaurant

The agriturismo has no pool, but there is a good comfortable restaurant. Whenever I’m visiting Lake Como, I go there for lunch or dinner! You can enjoy great local cuisine and Alberto has a fine wine list. A must is the "sformatino", a soufflé of potatoes, mushrooms and bresaola (local type of salted beef). Delicious!
