Apartments with a pool within walking distance of Lake Orta

In my opinion, Lake Orta is one of the most beautiful lakes in Northern Italy. Smaller and quieter than Lake Como or Lake Garda, it has a charm and authenticity all of its own. On the shores of the lake lies the delightful village of Orta San Giulio, with its narrow cobbled streets, picturesque squares and cafés overlooking the water. Around one kilometre from the historic centre, you will find this beautifully restored villa, home to ten stylish apartments.

During my visit, I had the pleasure of meeting the enthusiastic owner. Hospitality clearly comes naturally to her, as she not only manages the apartments but also runs a welcoming bar and restaurant right on the lakeside in Orta San Giulio. It is a lovely spot for a coffee, aperitivo, lunch or dinner while enjoying views across the lake. Her attention to detail and genuine care for guests are reflected throughout the property.

Thanks to its convenient location of the villa, restaurants, shops and the lake are all within easy reach. The local bus stop and the tourist train to the centre are also nearby. As a result, there is a little more activity during the day than you would find at a secluded countryside accommodation, but the advantage is that you can easily leave the car behind.

Within walking distance of the lake and the village centre

From the villa, it is around a twenty-minute walk to the centre of Orta San Giulio. Looking for a more scenic route? Follow the lakeside footpath instead. The walk takes about an hour and offers beautiful views across the water along the way.

Within walking distance of the villa, you will also find a bar-gelateria and a small shop where you can buy freshly baked bread and other essentials. Ideal if you enjoy a relaxed breakfast on your own terrace or balcony.

SUP boards and e-bikes can also be hired nearby. An e-bike is a great way to explore the area, allowing you to cycle easily to the lake, Orta San Giulio and the surrounding villages.

Lake Maggiore and the Piedmont wine region

Lake Maggiore, with charming lakeside towns such as Arona, Stresa and Baveno, is also within easy reach (approximately 25 km away). Those who enjoy the outdoors will find plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling in the surrounding area.

The villa also makes an excellent base for exploring more of Piedmont. Visit one of the local markets, for example in Borgomanero or Novara, take a drive through the rolling hills, or combine your stay with a visit to the famous wine regions around Alba and Barolo.

Pool, gym and garden

The villa's well-kept garden features a compact swimming pool with a distinctive circular shape. After a day by the lake, a stroll through Orta San Giulio or an excursion in the surrounding area, it is a pleasant place to cool off or relax on a sun lounger with a good book.

The owner's partner is passionate about fitness and has created a fully equipped gym beneath the villa, complete with a range of fitness equipment. The property also offers covered parking.

The apartments

The villa is home to ten apartments. Nine are one-bedroom apartments, while one spacious two-bedroom apartment is also available.

Six apartments are located on the ground floor and each has its own private garden area, making them particularly suitable for families with young children or guests who enjoy spending time outdoors. The four apartments on the first floor almost all feature a small balcony. The two-bedroom apartment also benefits from a large terrace with lovely views of the surrounding area.

All apartments are modern and tastefully furnished, with fully equipped kitchens featuring a Smeg refrigerator, Illy coffee machine, kettle, toaster and dishwasher. They also come with air conditioning and Wi-Fi.

Large windows ensure plenty of natural light, creating a bright and spacious feel throughout. The combination of contemporary comfort and thoughtful design makes these apartments an excellent base for a stay at Lake Orta.
