Welcoming agriturismo with stunning views of Cortona

This small-scale agriturismo is set in the hills of the Val di Chiana, just a short distance from the beautiful town of Cortona. What immediately struck me was how well cared-for everything is: neat terraces, a well-maintained garden with olive trees and lavender, a lovely view over the valley and a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. The current owners left their life in Northern Europe a few years ago for the Tuscan hills and have furnished the authentic country house with great care and taste. The style is a harmonious blend of traditional architecture, natural materials and modern comfort.

Close to the charming town of Cortona

The location is ideal, just five kilometres from Cortona. This charming hilltop town became world-famous thanks to the bestselling book Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes. She fell in love with it instantly — and you probably will too! Other beautiful Tuscan towns are also within easy reach. Arezzo is about a 40-minute drive and is a lively city with wonderful art and a large antique market. Siena, about an hour away, has a stunning medieval centre full of restaurants and shops, as well as the impressive Piazza del Campo. Florence (a 90-minute drive) is perfect for a day of culture and museums, while Montepulciano (40 minutes by car) is known for its wine cellars and breathtaking views.

15 minutes from Lake Trasimeno

Those who enjoy spending time on the water can visit Lake Trasimeno, perfect for swimming, walking, renting a boat or exploring one of the charming lakeside villages. It is less than a 30-minute drive away, and there are several small beaches along the lake. Many guests also enjoy staying “at home”, relaxing by the agriturismo’s pool or on the private terrace of their apartment, as it quickly feels like your own little slice of Tuscany.

Panoramic swimming pool

The agriturismo features a panoramic swimming pool overlooking the valley, as well as several terraces and seating areas where you can enjoy the sun, a book or a glass of wine. On the atmospheric piazzetta, spontaneous pizza evenings among guests often arise. In the small shop you will find the estate’s own olive oil, as well as jam and pesto made with ingredients from the garden.

The garden is a green oasis with olive trees, lavender, aromatic herbs and quiet corners to escape the bustle of everyday life. A washing machine is available on site for a small fee. Dogs are welcome in some apartments, on request.

The apartments

The agriturismo offers four charming apartments for two to six guests. Each apartment is carefully furnished, with high-quality beds, modern bathrooms and a warm blend of Tuscan atmosphere and contemporary comfort. All have their own outdoor space, ranging from terraces with panoramic views to intimate seating areas among the greenery. The kitchens are fully equipped, and the interiors are calm and stylish, with attention to detail and natural materials. Some apartments have air conditioning; Wi-Fi is available everywhere.
